SPARK Winter Session GR3/4Hobbies, Life Skills, CultureThe After School SPARK program is designed to engage students in Grades 3-4 in no-cost, high-interest enrichment programming that provides opportunities for students to further develop their talents and spark new interests and passions. In this 3-week session, students will register for 1 class each day based on their interests. Students will attend that same class for 3 sessions. Only register for one class per day. Both Tuesdays and Thursdays: AKA Sports: Basketball Skills (If you register for this class, you will attend all 6 sessions) Improve fitness and coordination with the AKA Basketball Development and Games program. Students will work on court dribbling, passing, shooting and defensive awareness. Each class includes specific skill development and "3 on 3" games so that each player gets game experience. Classes taught by AKASPORT instructors. Tuesdays 2/17, 2/24, 3/3: Youth Enrichment League: Bricktopia LEGO Catapults Explore engineering with Bricktopia's Catapults class! Build a catapult, dragster, and scale with LEGO bricks, and challenge yourself to problem-solve and innovate. Microwave Munchies with Mrs. Wilson Students will make food creations that require little to no cooking. Gain the confidence to make a snack or small meal for yourself with just a microwave! Students will learn basic kitchen safety and cooking skills. Wednesdays 2/18, 2/25, 3/4: Soccer Skills Camp with Mrs. Knutson Whether you are trying soccer for the first time or wanting to improve your skills, this camp is perfect for you! Students will work on individual ball mastery, passing, and small-sided soccer games. Thursdays 2/19, 2/26, 3/5: Rum River Art Center: Animal Painting Portraits Have you ever wanted to be a bird? Or a cat, dog, or bunny? In this class, you’ll learn to use acrylic paint on canvas to paint yourself as your favorite animal! Using your own features and favorite things about yourself, you get to create any animal you think best represents you and your personality. At the end of this class, students will have fun, imaginative portraits portraying them as animals! Dancing Around the World with Mrs. Wilson Students will be immersed in the culture of different countries by learning special dances from places all over the world! Learn the history and importance of each dance, then practice the steps to perform it. A snack will be provided at the start of programming each day by Nutrition Services.
