Primarily playing bass and tenor trombones, but also alto trombone, euphonium, and tuba on occasion. He currently performs regularly with The Paper Clips, Mankato Symphony, Century Jazz Ensemble, and Star of the North Jazz Orchestra. Chris holds an undergraduate degree from Gustavus Adolphus College where he studied with Scott Moore and Larry Zimmerman, and studied at the graduate level at the University of Minnesota with Thomas Ashworth. He has taken additional lessons with Andy Chappell (MN Orch), Douglas Wright (MN Orch), Achilles Liarmakopoulos (Canadian Brass), Michael Levine (Dallas Brass), and Henry Charles Smith III. Donate a lesson here Percussion Lessons: Instructor: Ryan Borden is a percussionist/drummer and educator based in Minneapolis. As an active scholastic and studio instructor, Ryan focuses on well-rounded musicianship and versatility as a percussionist; multi-faceted development of technique; sonic awareness and sound production; and self-assessment. Ryan formerly held the position of principal percussionist with the Missouri Symphony Orchestra, and other orchestral credits include the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Enid Symphony Orchestra, and the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, among others. Also a passionate community educator, he has experience facilitating collective drumming ensembles all over the United States. Ryan currently works at Augsburg University as the coordinator for the Schwartz School of the Arts, as well as a studio artist in the percussion area. He performs as a section percussionist with the Mankato Symphony Orchestra. Ryan received his Bachelor of Music in performance from Illinois State University and his Master of Music in performance from the University of Missouri. Donate a Lesson Here Saxophone/Clarinet Lessons: Instructor: Kristi Tharp Kristi Tharp holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD. She was a public-school band director in Sioux Falls before moving to the Twin Cities, where she has been teaching private lessons for 25 years. Kristi enjoys teaching all levels of musicians, customizing the lesson to the student through practical methods and different musical genres. While learning the intricacies of playing an instrument, and interpreting written music, Kristi focuses on the joy of playing and the fulfillment of achieving progress. Many of her students have been members of Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphony, Minnesota Youth Symphony, Minnesota All-State Band, and various honor bands. Learn to measure, cut, sand, paint, and then take home each project you build. Participants will learn how to use basic tools - hammer, nail, screwdriver, measuring tape, t-square, etc. SAFETY IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY. No power tools will be used. NOTE: Participants should be comfortable using a small saw as well as other hand tools. Wear clothes that can get messy/paint on them.

It’s Spring time and that can mean only one thing: SPRINGTIME DRAWING WITH YOUNG REMBRANDTS! If your children are baseball fans, they will love our baseball still life lesson. Learning about warm colors and cool colors will be the focus as our artists draw a detailed exterior of a house. We’ll also learn about legendary artist Edward Hopper as we recreate one of his masterpieces. Finally, we’ll take an imaginary trip to Japan and learn about the artistry of the kimono.
